To lighten the hair we can try to do without chemical dyes or bleaches using some natural ingredients instead. Here’s how to get the most out of the results …
Women like to have hair always in order and often resort to chemical dyes to adjust their color or lighten it. The problem is that these products, given the ingredients they are made of, are aggressive for skin and hair that contribute to drying and damaging. In some cases they can even give rise to allergic outbreaks (it is not by chance that on the packaging there is always written to test the product first on a narrow area of the head).
It would therefore be good, when possible, to use natural products that have a lightening but much more delicate power on their skin and hair. There are several DIY beauty recipes to lighten hair that you can prepare comfortably at home without having to go to the hairdresser.
However, please note that, since these are natural ingredients, you can not expect the effect of a traditional blonde tint or chemical lightening. The result will depend very much on the basic color of the hair, if these are black or dark brown you can not expect with natural products to lighten them while instead light blond and brown hair are more likely to get a good final effect even with recipes made from you.
You are wondering what are the natural ingredients with which you can lighten your hair. Well it’s plants like the Cassia (the so-called neutral Henné), chamomile, turmeric, cinnamon but also lemon, honey and even beer! However, it is essential to know the DIY recipes and the most correct procedures to use them to the fullest.
Natural methods and ingredients to lighten the hair
To lighten your hair naturally you can use different methods and above all ingredients. We present you the most effective and commonly used ones.
Using cassia is a great way to give your hair golden reflections. In herbal medicine you often find it under the name of neutral henna and can be used alone or in combination with other herbs or lightening plants such as turmeric, chamomile or rhubarb (in combination with these plants the lightening effect will be greater). The advantage that cassia offers is also to strengthen the hair and make it brighter. To experience the effect of cassia you need: Hot water and Cassia powder.
Put the amount of powder in a bowl and slowly pour hot water until the cassia has melted completely (it should not have lumps) and the mixture has become the consistency of yogurt. Once ready apply it on dry hair and then keep it in place for at least an hour, helping with a cap or a tight film on the hair. After the time, rinse your hair and wash normally with delicate products. To maintain the lightening effect, repeat the operation every month.
With turmeric, spice capable of giving blond highlights or intensifying your natural light color, you need to take a little care as you risk getting too yellow an effect. If you want to try this ingredient you will need only: Turmeric powder (minimum 1 teaspoon maximum 1 spoon) and Water (1 cup).
Dissolve turmeric well in hot water, let it cool down and then apply to dry hair. The shutter speed varies from 20 to 120 minutes depending on whether you want a more or less strong effect. Put a cap or film on your head to better keep the mixture in place. Rinse and then wash your hair normally. The application should be repeated every month.
The doses of turmeric that can be used vary depending on the length of the hair and on the basis of the desired effect. We advise you to always start with just one teaspoon of powder by first doing a test on a hidden area of the hair.

Chamomile is one of the most classic lightening remedies and we can further enhance its effect by subsequently letting the hair dry in the sun (of course this can only be done in summer). You will need: 3 or 4 sachets or loose dried flowers of Chamomile and Water (a saucepan).
Bring the water to a boil and infuse the sachets or dried flowers covering with a saucer. Allow to cool and then pour the solution over the entire crown. Finally you can let the hair dry in the sun (for at least half an hour) or naturally without using the hair dryer. An alternative is to put the infusion of chamomile in a spray container and then spray it over the entire length of the hair. Finally proceed to the washing as usual.
Even the lemon can be an ingredient with lightening power on the hair already clear. However, it should not be used pure but diluted in water. You will need: 2 lemons and 1 cup of water.
Squeeze the fresh juice and dilute it in water. At this point apply it over the entire length of the hair and leave it in place for at least 30 minutes. After the time rinsed with water, apply some balm (the lemon tends to dry the hair) and rinse again. Also in this case you can add water and lemon in a sprayer so as to spread the solution more comfortably on the hair. Allow to dry naturally.
Honey mixed with balsam is a remedy that can help lighten hair. In this case you will need: 3 tablespoons of acacia honey or millefiori and 2 tablespoons of neutral balsam .
Mix the two ingredients and spread the mixture on the hair as a restructuring mask, keeping on for at least 30-40 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly and let the hair dry naturally. To obtain a more lightening effect, add lemon juice to the mixture.
To activate its lightening power we recommend using cinnamon mixed with a neutral hair conditioner. The ingredients you need are: Cinnamon powder, Neutral balsam and Honey 2/3 tablespoons (optional).
Add the cinnamon powder to the conditioner, mixing until the two ingredients are uniform and reach the right consistency. If you want to have a greater effect, even fabric softener, add honey. Then apply on the hair, put a cap and hold for a few hours or even all night. Finally rinse and proceed to normal washing.
Rhubarb gives a powder with a yellow coloring power. You can then try to make your hair more blond and clear using: Rhubarb powder (1-2 teaspoons) and hot water.
Mix the rhubarb and water powder together, letting it rest for a few minutes. Then apply on the hair for a time ranging from 30 minutes to about 2 hours, depending on the effect you want to achieve. Cover everything with a cap or transparent film. After the time, rinse your hair. Rhubarb can be used in combination with cassia and must be applied with some consistency to maintain the results obtained.
If you want to lighten your hair with beer all you need is a can of light beer. Simply transfer it into a basin and put the hair (if long) inside, or use it on all the lengths pouring it from above. Keep in place for at least an hour and then wash your hair. For good results, the application of beer is repeated every week.Tags: lighten your hair
