Serotonin is a neurotransmitter acting in the brain and has several important functions in our body, some of them are:

- Directly affects our mood, since a decrease in serotonin levels can cause sadness, insomnia, irritability or depression … etc.
What is tryptophan and why brings us happiness?
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that must be incorporated through the food we eat every day, because the body does not produce it.
Tryptophan is essential to synthesize and release serotonin and for this reason it is considered that foods rich in tryptophan work as natural antidepressants.

The foods that act as natural anti-depressants, are themselves the richest in tryptophan: milk, whole grains, oats, cheese, bananas, eggs, soy, dates, nuts, chocolate.
